Ashley Davies

Artist’s Statement October 2015

Ashley Davies is a contemporary artist living in East London, where she continues her studio practice.

Ashley attended Portsmouth Polytechnic for her BA Hons in Fine Art and continued her studies with an MA at the Royal Academy, exhibiting in numerous group shows and several solo exhibitions, having shown her work every year since graduating.

In addition, she collaborates with the renowned wind quintet, The Galliard Ensemble, and also works as an artist educator, primarily and for the last 15 years for the Courtauld Institute, as well as delivering workshops in many London galleries.

With a passion for work with access, community and special needs groups, she says that this also informs her own practice.

Ashley works in many media, but is primarily and oil painter, taking her inspiration from rural and urban landscape, music and literature and her work hovers between abstract and figurative, following whatever the painting needs.

'Beyond the virtuosity of the paintwork lies the perfect synthesis of figurative and the abstract'. Mark De Novellis, Curator, Orleans House Gallery.

Ashley Davies is represented by Lena Boyle, Fine Art.
